LEDs Mature Into Solid-State Lighting Leader

Out of all the electricity generated in North America, lighting uses an estimated 20% (electric motors consume approximately 60%), unfortunately 99% of the general lighting uses outdated and inefficient lighting technology. LED has been used in accent lighting for almost a decade or more now, but only recently have advancements in SMD technology surface mount diodes proven that LEDs are the most efficient and safest lighting technology available.
LEDs mature into solid-state lighting leader
Solid-state lighting featuring SMD chips (surface mount diodes) are already in widespread use and new high brightness LEDs have taken SSL to the heights where it can replace traditional light sources indoors and out. Improvements in manufacturing are helping to deliver cost savings that will reduce the upfront capital investment when considering LED conversions.
Enough mercury already
Mercury is required for most energy-efficient lighting not for LED. While the world moves to reducing pollution and contamination of our environment and waterways, the mercury issue from fluorescent lighting has always been seen as a necessary evil. Governments in power companies have subsidized these toxic products, hiding the true cost of not only the technology but the costs to our environment.
Governments and companies have failed to provide appropriate mercury reclamation apparatus to deal with disposed of mercury laced CFL's. They are very careful in their literature to explain how the technology does exist and CFL's can be completely recycled but fails to mention price is heavy and few facilities exist.while only recently implementing a surcharge to compact fluorescent bulbs recycling in Canada. LEDs are completely safe and non-toxic and made it easily recyclable components. As governments and companies seek to promote energy efficiency, demand for SSL lighting systems is rapidly increasing in every market.
MR-16 and GU-10 installation tips
12 volt DC power required for MR-16.
Use a fixture that allows as much ventilation as possible.if using a dimmer switch be sure to use specified dimmable products
Remove any glass or tinted lenses (use colored LEDs or RGB LED's instead of tinted lenses or gels), these are often UV filters which are not required on LED light sources. If overall desired brightness is not achieved, consider additional fixtures or drop down fixtures that physically get the light closer to the subject.
Check periodically
Occasionally visually inspect bulbs, gently removing any dust. Dust can block airflow which potentially could lead to premature lamp failure.Proper maintenance is key to achieving maximum savings

The Evolution of Smart Home Technology: From Convenience to Necessity

The Evolution of Smart Home Technology: From Convenience to Necessity Smart home technology, once a novelty showcasing the heights of luxury and convenience, has rapidly evolved into a mainstream necessity for modern living. This transformation has been fueled by advancements in IoT (Internet of Things) technology, artificial intelligence, and consumer demand for greater sustainability and security. Today, smart home solutions not only offer enhanced convenience but also significantly improve energy efficiency, security, and even health monitoring. Here's how the landscape of smart home technology has shifted from a mere convenience to an essential part of everyday life. Early Stages: The Luxury of Convenience The initial allure of smart home technology was centered around convenience. Early adopters were fascinated by the ability to control lighting, climate, and entertainment systems remotely or via voice commands. Products like smart thermostats, which could learn a user's...

Getting the Most Out of Your IT Set Up

As a not for profit organisation, you will have lots on your mind. There are endless donor lists, causes, campaigns to be planned and much work to be done. All of this naturally needs the backing of a sound IT set up and, for this, good IT Support is absolutely essential. Most small, not for profit organisations feel that this is something they can easily work around. Hiring a part time IT professional, who may not be all that qualified, is what most places resort to; however, in the long run, this is not a good idea. When setting up a not for profit organisation it would be a good idea to start up strong. This way you will not have issues going forward. Rather than visit discount sales for hardware, speak to suppliers and see if they can give you quality products for a good price. This way you know you have good computers and hardware to begin with, remember the total cost of ownership is the primary consideration, the investment in getting equipment setup to your specific needs ...
